Brake disc wear

I have a 2016 Superb with 90k km on it. In the past month I've had to change both front and rear brake discs.

The back ones happened because the pad wore right down on one side (no sensors on the back) and therefore one of the discs got ruined. This one is fair enough, my bad.

But the front ones, the car went in for it's regular annual service, there's ~30% left on the pad (sensor hasn't come up yet), but they say the discs are corroded and lipped and recommend a replacement (well they actually said it would be ok for another short while, but I went ahead with the replacement since I don't know if everything is going to close and how long for).

Is it normal for discs to need to be replaced at this stage?

Yes it would be normal. In fairness the garage should of recommend you to change them as soon as they said 30 percent left. Now I get that the pads might have only had 30 percent left but any garage worth there salt wouldn't be letting a car out at its annual service with only 30 percent remaining. As for the front discs all vw audi skoda cars suffer that problem on the rear and your prob dead lucky u didnt have to replace the caliper as well. The front discs normally tend to wear on the inside and a big lip and groove forms. So I wouldn't say it's anything u did wrong just normal wear and tear

Yes, normal. If its the first set of discs at 90k you've done well.
