Couple of heifers slack on milk , hope they come on a bit with grass but in the meantime I'd like to boost the calves with milk replacer.
Anybody know if giving maverick will cause problems if the calf goes and sucks the heifer immediately after, thereby mixing whole milk with the MR in the stomach, seems to be no issues with skim based but I got most of a full bag of maverick left was using it for half twins before being sold.

I don't know anything about milk replacer but if you give the heifers some dairy nuts it would help the calves.

How do you get suckler calves to suck milk replacer? I find that once they suck the cow there is no way of getting them on a bottle.

cruel to be kind , separate till it sucks, start with milk , change to replacer when you have it going

What about introducing crunch? Could be handier for yourself instead of lugging around feeders and mixing milk?

Dairy stock here but never have issues mixing whole milk with milk replacer. Have no experience with suckers. If they’re over a week old and they’ve no other problems it may do them no harm if their mothers are short on milk. I know that putting milk replacer on top of calf starter to get calves eating is a trick that some fellas try but we’ve never bothered with it here.
We’ve only ever used whey based replacers with whole milk to answer your original question
