I was in a discount store today and there was a whole family , a man , a woman, their 4 or 5 small children, and what looked one of their elderly parents and their spouse. Now, its very hard to conduct social distancing in a shop when you bring a gang along like that.

It's a lot easier to practice social distancing when you just stay at home yourself. In my opinion/my experience

At the best of times, I hate anybody with me when I'm shopping.

I have been doing that but as I live alone I do need to get to the shops once a week. I observe the appropriate distancing but when I see a whole unit of people in front of me in the aisle not social distancing and having zero awareness of it they might aswell be spitting on top of everybody else.

I think now, people have a lot of spare time on their hands that they are not used to having. The instinct is to ‘kill the boredom’ so someone going shopping, everyone wants out of the house with them. I said it to someone here tonight after they said they wanted to go shopping that I’d tag along tomorrow and was told I’m not going... I didn’t even think but I think when we all get used to it, it will become easier.

Of course it’s more difficult to manage the more ‘social’ people who have the want, desire and determination to be with and around people constantly and can’t be alone but it’s about tough love and managing them.

I shop for my parents who do not leave the house except on short walks. Twice a week the household is replenished, soon will be making provision for once a week having gradually stocked up in last fortnight. Families shopping together need their heads collectively examined.
