    Hi,

Looking at flights for family of 4 on skyscanner to NewYork in August. They seem to be quite reasonable approx €1400 return, due to current climate no doubt.
I’m thinking everything should have calmed down by then so this could be an opportune time to get a good deal.

What do people think, is it worth the risk?

I wouldn't risk it. Whatever about here, the US could be in a right state by then.

skyskanner are a search engine and unless they direct you to the airlines site, they do not have live pricing and in current times, unlikely to even have schedules

Personally, wouldnt risk it. We have a Vegas holiday booked for October and dont expect to be able to go.

    I would forget about it.
The USA is going to be in an awful state for a long time with this virus.

Your best chance might be by Hot Air Balloon. Good luck with that.

Im supposed be going to Portugal in June. No chance. Not even thinking of it. How could you be? Different world we live in now. And will be for quite a while.

I'm supposed to be going in May. First world problems and all that but, NY is special to me and I am absolutely devastated about it given the current situation. Small issue to have I know but...

I've the option to rearrange the dates for free with Aer Lingus but, I have no idea when it will be safe. Like everyone else I guess

Some of the offers out there are very tempting, but I really can't see everything being normal in August.

Also, new York in August is regularly uncomfortably hot and humid.

I've an event in early October and thinking of back up plans.

    How dumb are you?

    FFS some people are ignoramuses.

Show a bit of respect to the situation please.

    Relax.

The guy is just asking. He doesn't mean any harm and he is not being disrespectful.
We're in an unknown situation but, whilst we deal with this, it doesn't stop people from thinking about the future

Have you got a crystal ball there and can tell us how it will be in August?

This virus is less than 3 months old, yet you can berate someone asking advice for 5 months in the future?

    As you said....

    Let it go.

You'd be lucky to get there for Xmas.

Unless you can get travel insurance which offers full coverage in the case of an advisory against anything but essential travel I wouldn't go.

Aer Lingus offering full refund via voucher if changes are made for flights booked right now, so if you need to go it's worth booking with them.

Had to cancel a flight with them for next week and got a full refund via voucher plus 10%. Wouldn't chance a third party right now.

There might not be an Aer Lingus in 6 months, I wouldn't take any voucher from them.

If there's no Aer Lingus a refund would be the least if my worries

Op asked a genuine question and no need to get personal and insult then. If you have nothing of value to add to this thread then move on.

OP no one here can ever answer your question. IMHO No one has any idea what companies will still be around in 5 months time.
