Anyone know of dentists that are still open in Dublin , south or city preferably. Pretty sure I need a filling , in a lot of pain.

Is it a real emergency? Dull throbbing continuous pain keeping you awake all night , making your life miserable and unable to function without urgent treatment. As in if treatment isn’t complete as emergency or urgent then you will end up in A and E?

Have you had pain before where you needed a root canal or extraction?

If it just mild dental pain to hot cold etc and is short lasting and can be managed with pain relief then I would strongly consider deferring making an appointment currently or just phoning your dentist to discuss over phone.

Try keeping the area clean, rinse with hot salty mouth wash or corsodyl, pain relief as appropriate, avoid things that cause the pain etc..

Thanks for the informative reply. Got in touch with a very helpful dentist who’s closed but told me to get my local Pharmacist to ring him for a chat and hopefully they’ll give me antibiotics. He thinks it’s the beginning of an abscess as the tooth has been filled previously.

I think in the current situation that antibiotic prescription and reassess is very reasonable in the first instance, assuming symptoms and signs aren’t severe. Even though not strictly following guidelines, you’d be surprised how many patients would return with pain settled following prescription and review.

Glad you got sorted, I'm in the exact same situation myself! Grand timing. Trying to find somewhere to get some relief but it's understanably difficult. can only pump myself full of pain killers for so long. It feels like when I had a tooth infection before, can I ask what dentist you got through to? Also in South Dublin city. Thanks in advance!
