    Shane Ross strikes again.

Plenty of truck and bus drivers need a medical but no word on that.
Is Ross trying to win votes for a possible election or has he another agenda.

Its a sensible temporary measure to prevent oap having to enter doctors premises which in fairness is very sensible.
Should probably be extended to all licence holders

Ah, here. Don’t be letting good sense get in the way of a good rant.

From now until the end of July. But will any licence granted be for 1 year, 3 years etc? It might have made more sense to give an amnesty on licences which expired between now and 31st July.

Now that is an imminently sensible suggestion! However this is Ireland.

Same issue with NCT. We cant actually test your car but you are still required to come in and give us your money and then don't worry we let you know at some undefined future date when we can actually deliver the service you've paid for!! I wonder why they did t go the next step and implement the driver license option .. just give us your money and we'll send you you cert. End of!!

I suppose it could be just a failed politican trying to score points no matter what the long term cost.
He could at least get them to go to the optician s to check their sight so they can see other cars and hopefully not cause a serious accident.

For the same reason no under 24's should be allowed on the road?
Or are you just generalizing as I am

    This is what happened
In light of the need to facilitate social distancing and the expected additional burdens on medical services from Covid-19, the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, has decided that the requirement for those over 70 (under certain circumstance) to provide a medical report shall be removed at this time.

Minister Ross said: “This means that from today until 31 July 2020, persons of 70 years of age or over can apply for, and renew, their driving licence in the normal way through the NDLS public office without the need to submit a medical report. This is only on the basis that they do not have an identified or specified illness.

They are subsidising your insurance with their low accident and claims rates
