in their infinite wisdom the national post service has decided the best thing they can do for people right now, especially the elderly apparently, is to force their stressed and under-resourced staff to hand deliver millions of useless and possibly contaminated postcards to every house in the country and then redelivering them again with an even greater risk of contamination, hoping to enable connections between family, friends and specifically the elderly, while we're all told to be mindful of the elderly and not put them under any unnecessary risk in the weeks and months ahead.

have people forgotten about their phones??

people are actually commending "the great gesture" online, are some of us really still that simple that a pair of free postcards during a global health crisis is to be commended? lots of people insisting that it's fine because obviously "EVERYBODY will wash their hands before touching them, writing on them and posting them" LOL, ignoring the fact that on top of stupid people, you also have the unhygienic and basically idiots that are high risk for not having made sure the useless postcards are safe to be handled unnecessarily by several innocent and vitally important Post office workers along the way

totally crazy move at this time imho

I work as a postie and this is just a ridiculous thing to do right now.

Why not wait until things get back to normality!

I'm nervous going into work each day!

Don’t think the virus is strong enough to survive on a postcard to transmit to a person after that length of time.

We're only the donkeys that do the work, our opinions don't matter!

after what length of time? who mentioned a timeline

the virus can survive on surfaces for up to 5 to 7 days, maybe longer in ideal conditions

Based on your detailed knowledge is it? A lot of organisations are trying to jump in and show they are doing something. Ill thought out and could easily end up making a situation worse. Some people don't realise that the best thing they can contribute at the moment is to stay at home, do nothing and shut up
