Went to pay my water bill today for the farm. Got some shock when I looked at the amount, just over €1000.

Absolutely fuming, so I rang them, They say that I used over 900m3 of water. They say that the meter readings for the other years were only their estimates and this years contains the actual meter reading taken this January. Last time it was read was 2017.

I told them I want to change the connection from 'Non-domestic metered' and back to domestic and I will disconnect the farm from the house. They say they won't so this. I ended up arguing with them for a full 30mins. No way will they change it back.

None of my farmer neighbours have a metered connection. I know cause I asked them.

Has anyone ever done this? No way in hell will I pay this. None of my neighbours, farmers and non-farmers are paying a bob.

Start collecting water from sheds and roofs, it can be treated.
Clean food grade black IBC Containers.

This is what I plan to do. I also have an old well on the farm.
Thing is, with the metered connection, I will still get caught for the standing charge of €130 every year.

Their estimates are a joke, I got a bill today too and it'll be next year before reach their estimated reading
