I'd swear the version of this my dad had was Cherry Cola, not Coca-Cola.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Was coca originally, before the Coca Cola lawyers started threatening a big legal stick.

The BBC wouldn't play it due to product placement rules, so they changed it to cherry cola on the singles.

The BBC made them change it reportedly because they didn't want to advertise Coca Cola

Ray Davies was a half-century ahead of his time.

Just the other day I was listening to the Whos I'm a boy. I had always assumed that it was a literal song about a family who had 3 girls and then treated their 4th child (first son) as a girl.

But thinking about it now, I suspect it was that they had 4 girls and the 4th felt like a boy but was unable to express it.

All those 60s guys were ahead of their time. Or maybe, we are only catching up

Gays, cross dressers and trans genders were around in the sixties too but referring to them was always tongue in cheek á la Kenneth Williams at al. We knew or suspected who they were but we didn't want to admit it.
