Apprenticeship and Social Welfare assistance?

    Hello all,

My wife and I have recently immigrated home from Canada and went on jobseekers while getting on our feet.

We receive €330 per week for myself and her as my dependant.

Great news - I have been accepted into an apprenticeship in carpentry, a lifelong goal.

Not so good news - the first year or two pays very little as we all know. Probably around €200 - 250 per week.

My wife was about to begin her fetac courses to become a Home Care Assistant but with the zombie plague infecting the world at the moment - that has been put on a very long hold.

€250 per week won't pay our small monthly bills and also buy us food. As grateful as we are for the €330; it didn't either and our savings are now almost on €0.

Is there any assistance available to us until my wife gets working also?

I'll start making phone calls tomorrow but figured here is a good start!

    Any thoughts appreciated.
    Joe

Can your wife apply for JA?
