I'm trying to do it on the revenue.ie website using their VRT calculator, but it's asking for a 'statistical code', which I don't have.
The car is a Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI, 5 door, manual, 150 hp, ambition model, about €35,000 new price?
Anyone any idea what the VRT would work out at?
    The co2 is 129g/km

    Sorry?

It falls into the 18% VRT band as far as I know, plus there would be a nox charge on it.

Do you qualify for an exemption or something? This is a brand new car?

When you go onto the VRT calculator, you can skip the stat code question, as this is only for those that know the code, they don’t have to answer the questions on make/model/spec etc.

The revenue calculator (which is for used imports) tends to use UK specs, so you won’t find yours in there either way,

    Rough calculation 18% of €34000 = €6120

You can enter the stat code OR all of the details manually.

I'm seeing this below, but could be wrong.

    CO2 VRT Charges - €5,025 (17%)
    NOx VRT Charge - €275
    VRT - €5,300

Thanks Colm. Yes, we qualify for an exemption as my Dad is invalided now. I think the dealer is not giving me the true figures regarding the VRT.

I think the new facelifted Superb has much lower emissions than you’re saying there. 98g/km on a 2.0 TDI 150 Ambition.

This would mean less VRT back.

Feel free to give us all the figures either by PM or publicly

€5000 is 17% of €30k though. Can’t see them valuing it at that as car is €35k RRP plus delivery and metallic.

I sent Colm a pm with the details. Thanks.

VRT is calculated from the OMSP which is generally 10% less than the retail price with volume brand.

€36,000 car therefore has an OMSP of €32,400
    17% VRT = €5,508

Have you info on whether new 2.0 Superbs are 98g/km?

Apparently so! Checked the Active & Ambition and both are showing as 98g.

Strangely, the Passat 2.0Tdi base model is 101g and VW usually have the more up to date technology than Skoda/SEAT to begin with.

Skodas own connfigurator doesn’t even have this info. Obviously this impacts the VRT amount claimable

I might have the wrong spec entered so that's a very rough estimate.

Take the RRP of the car x 92% to get the OMSP and the multiply that by the VRT percent.

    According to this

    https://az749841.vo.msecnd.net/sitesenie/alv1/20b406db-95f6-4cd1-b410-081632333eb6/SUPERB%20MY20%20Jan%202020%20Product%20Guide_16%2001%202020.9d5b38d0a4cd741ef04ae6a0028ac335.pdf

The Superb Ambition before Extras is €34,960.... x92 percent = 32163...

If the tax is 190 it should be 16 percent VRT so

    32163 x .16 = 5146 VRT.

Anyway, the dealer shouldn’t be able to hide anything because you won’t be paying the VRT anyway, it’ll be discounted at source.
