Which Hybrid for 15K euro? Advice wanted.

Current car has failed NCT and too costly to repair.

Two adults will be using car, no kids.

Our Commute is 30 mins each way every day.

Occasional journeys down the country every 3-4 weekends. Other than that just short trips usually less than 20 minutes to shops etc.

That commute of 30 minutes each way, is that 30 minutes at motorway speeds or 30 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic?

Hi.

I'd say it's 20 mins slow moving and 10 mins motorway.

But it's not usually gridlock bumper to bumper in the morning, just the evening.

Have you got a driveway or in work a place to plug in?

Reason being you could skip the hybrid phase and go to a plug in hybrid or full electric, a hybrid will give the same economy as a diesel car.

just to give you an idea of available hybrids in the uk for 13000 euro, I allowed 2000 euro for vrt, nearly all will not cost that much to vrt.

Click on make and you can see 11 different makes, some with multiple models. Vrt is around 2400 euro but you would have to do a few thousand km's in it before you vrt it, so not to attract vat.

Plug in hybrid and electric you need to a place to charge them, but plenty in that price bracket,

I'd say make a list of cars and features you want first and foremost and see if that aligns with any available hybrids in budget.

I receintly got one of these for my dad. A few comments, they are good value, have a nice finish, and are generally well specced. They are slow as moses, and the combo of a CVT gearbox and the hybrid engine mean its a A to B machine not a drivers car, on the opposite end is the ride witch is decidedly sporty and hard.

All in all a nice little car, cheap enough second hand and economical let luxurious.

Auris/Prius are the same story. What kills the CT for me is the tiny boot.
