Safety order advice needed

Okay I need some advice here, I got a letter in door the other day about a protection order and summons for a safety order against me from my ex girlfriend. We were together over 11 years and split about roughly 8 months ago, there's no kids or anything like that. I was never violent nor did I ever threaten violence, I thought everything was fine until I came home one day she just said I still love you but I don't want to be with you anymore and that was it I never got any more of a reason than that.

As you can probably imagine I was very upset about it and started suffering from depression. Initially I gave her space for about 2 months and made no contact whatsoever but eventually I tried to make contact with her, I was hoping to reconnect with her and I was hopeful of maybe rebuilding our relationship and if not that then to seek some closure about what if anything I did wrong for her to end the relationship but any calls or messages I left her all went unanswered, I would say about 10 times over a 6 month period. The last time I tried to make contact with her I tried to catch her for a chat outside a gaa club I know she goes too, I just asked her would she be willing to talk with me for a few minutes but she just walked past me without responding and then about a week later, I get this letter with her stating basically outlining what I said above and that she was in fear of her life or violence against her.

I'm a bit shocked by it to be honest, it's after upsetting me a great deal, I know it was wrong for me to try catch her for a chat, but I was never violent to her or anyone for that matter, I wasn't even vulgar or anything of the sort. I think court is totally unnecessary here had she had said to leave her alone or got someone else to do so I would have agreed to it completely.

So I need some advice to what are my options here?

I've never been to court before so I haven't a clue about any of it. Needless to say after receiving this letter I never want to see or hear from her again anyway no matter what happens from here.

Is it okay for me to just not show up and let her have her safety order? If I did that would it be a mark on my name or anything like that? I know it would be if I broke it but I mean if I comply with it? I don't want to have a record over this or hinder any future employment opportunities. If it doesn't hinder me in any way I have no issue with her getting the order.

If I show up and make my own case do I need a solicitor? if so does anyone have a ballpark figure of what that might cost? I've never dealt with a solicitor before so I wouldn't have a clue.

Would it be permissible for me to try make contact with her via someone such as a family member to make it clear to her that court is not necessary because I have no intention of ever communicating with her again and if that is acceptable to her we can drop the whole thing and both avoid going to court, or would trying that only make things worse?

Any advice about how to go about this would be great, it's got me completely stressed out, I'm a pretty bad asthma sufferer and this Coronavirus really has me on edge at the moment so I'd just like to resolve this as quickly as possible

    MOD NOTE

Thank you for your post OP. However the type of advice you are looking for would be more appropriate coming from a legal professional.

You should contact your solicitor who should be able to advise you.

    Best of luck.
