Coronavirus and NCT - cancel your NCT now

Just thought I would let people know.
I got the car NCTd and as im watching I see the tester coughing loads of times inside the car. I was horrified. And then I see another one doing the same in thing in another car. Sure if one of them has it more of them would have it.
So then I have no choice but to drive the car home after that.
Not a nice feeling. If I was anyone with a test appointment soon I would cancel it. I really wish I had cancelled.

They should actually cancel all NCTs themselves to tell the truth.

Were you in the car at the time?

No?

Then relax.

Covid 19 can live on hard surfaces for up to 48 hours according to the W.H.O

Well I do have a temperature for a couple of days, but don't feel too bad.
I had that before I went to the NCT center though.
I guess he could have caught it from me too if I do have it.

But either way. Coughing all over the inside of a car these days is not nice. And you would think his bosses would have sent home home sick, and the other guy too.

Yeah, that's what worries me. And all hard surfaces inside a car all within a meter distance of a cough and all where people put their hands all the time.
Its just not on, and as another poster made me realize, it works both ways.

Worse actually in the other direction because I could infect hom and then how many cars is he in after that.

Anyway i'll say no more on it, but if I had a doover I would have cancelled. And I think all NCTs should be cancelled anyway

From the HSE.

How does COVID-19 spread?
COVID-19 can spread from person to person, usually after close contact with a person infected with
the virus that causes COVID-19 for example in a household, healthcare facility or workplace.
The virus can be spread either: • directly, through contact with an infected person’s body fluids (e.g. droplets from coughing or
sneezing)
or • indirectly, through contact with surfaces that an infected person has coughed or sneezed on and
which are, therefore, contaminated with the virus. It is still not known how long the virus survives on
surfaces, although current information suggests the virus may survive a few hours. Simple household
disinfectants can kill the virus.

I'd be more concerned about restaurant or bar staff coughing over food/drink. I'm not going to eat my car.

Nope, more likely lift related.

Coronavirus (COVID – 19) – All NCTS Centres operating as normal

Please note that all NCTS centres are continuing to operate its services as normal.
NCTS takes the health and well-being of its customers and staff very seriously.
As the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to escalate we have put in place the appropriate precautions to ensure we minimise any impact of the virus in our centres.
Please do not visit any NCTS facility if you have been exposed to the virus or have knowingly been in contact with anyone showing symptoms. In this instance you should follow HSE advice on https://www2.hse.ie/coronavirus/

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

why would I cancel my NCT? - AGS aren't going to give a free pass for breaching RTA over it.

Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Just use an anti bac wipe on your steering wheel, gear lever, stalks and hand brake (if you have one) after the test. The risk is far higher for the staff than you.

If you cancel your NCT are you going to walk everywhere, or get public transport, because you can't drive a car without a NCT except for a few limited reasons?

I’ve already failed for the lift and also the airbag. I was trying to book a retest for the airbag (now fixed) if they cancel my re test do I have to do a full test again if it’s not back up in time? “Vehicle to be retested on or before Friday, March 27, 2020” So what do I do now? What do I tell the guards if they stop me? Show them the text. My second nearest centre has no availability until early May my cert is out next week.

I'd be more worried about what your insurance company does than getting past a Garda, who technically should take the car off you.

The airbag fault is just a visual check. Thats why you cant make a booking. Just go to your local nct centre and they will check the airbag fault is sorted.
