Ryanair flights cancelled, options for rebooking?

    Hi Guys,
I have - well had flights to Pisa for later this month. Initially my flight was cancelled when Ryanair announced the initial 25% reduction in flights.I had planned on changing over to flights to Pisa on the next available date.

    Now however given the situation thats not a runner, i have the option to take a refund or rebook for free. I have never had to rebook flights with Ryanair before so i am hoping someone can tell me;

    1) Free rebooking, can I rebook onto any flight for free irrespective of fare difference?
    2) or if "free rebooking" just that i can change to another flight to another destination / date etc?

At the moment I am reluctant to rebook flights to anywhere depending on how things pan out over the next few weeks before i just go with a refund.

    any advice appreciated!

Get your refund. Chances are once things start moving again that prices will be slashed to drum up business and any new flights could well be cheaper.

Yep, refund and get the money back in your pocket. Once the dust settles and you know your plans you can rebook (assuming you still want to go), there's bound to be a massive seat sale to get people flying again...

So I have a Ryanair round trip booked that is (currently) scheduled to operate.

However, the purpose of the trip is no more as the event I was travelling for has been cancelled.

I'm guessing that I'm SOL when it comes to getting anything back?

I develop Superior Solitaire when I'm not procrastinating on boards.ie.

If Ryanair cancel the flight is your only option really

    https://www.ryanair.com/gb/en/travel-updates/articles/UPDATE-WED-18-MAR

    IMPORTANT CUSTOMER NOTICE – UPDATE WED 18 MAR 18 Mar 2020 • 20:42
Over the past few days, the spread of the Covid-19 virus has led most EU Governments to impose severe travel bans and restrictions, which have had a negative impact on the schedules of all Ryanair Airlines, causing widespread cancellations and travel disruptions across the network.
We advise customers considering travel that all Government travel restrictions must be followed. The situation changes on a daily basis, and we encourage customers to check relevant local guidelines issued by their Government before they travel, and our Travel Advisory page for more information on country-specific restrictions.
Our flight schedules have been hugely disrupted by these Government restrictions and will be subject to further cuts:
From 24:00 hrs Wed 18 Mar until 24:00 hrs Tue 24 Mar, Ryanair Group Airlines will cut flight schedules by over 80%. All affected customers will receive an email to advise them of their options and we kindly ask customers not to call us as our call centres are overloaded dealing with customer queries.
From 24:00 hrs Tue 24 Mar we expect that most if not all Ryanair Group flights will be grounded, except for a very small number of flights to maintain essential connectivity, mostly between the UK and Ireland. Details of these severely reduced schedule can be found on the Travel Advisory page on the Ryanair.com website, which will be updated regularly.
Ryanair will continue to stay in close contact with the Foreign Ministries of all EU Governments on the repatriation of EU citizens, and where possible we may operate rescue flights to support this repatriation.
Ryanair sincerely regrets all disruptions caused by this unprecedented Covid-19 crisis. The safety and well-being of our people and customers is our main priority and we will continue to comply with all WHO and EASA guidelines, as well as all Government travel restrictions which have been imposed over recent days to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
All our thoughts and prayers are with our people and our customers and their families as we work our way through this crisis.

Have spent all day trying to get a refund on a cancelled flight on their website. I fill in the details and they keep saying my booking code is incorrect. It isn't. Waited for a couple of hours to "live chat" with soneone, but had to quit before i got to chat with someone. Very frustrating :(

    That’s understandable.

But be fair to Ryanair this is unprecedented and I’m sure they are overwhelmed with customers contacting them in their Millions. Bare in mind a month of traffic for them could be 10 million passengers needing to be rebooked.

Ryanair are playing games here. The lucky few who eventually get through on chat are being discouraged from refunds and encouraged to rebook.
My flight was cancelled but i never got an email, I logged into my account and found out.
I cannot process a refund online as it tells me the booking ref no. is incorrect (It isn't)

    Understandable my arse

An online business until you need to get a refund.

For those that had issue with refund form, had you checked in already for the flight? Just wondering if an offload is needed before refunds can be done.

Ok. Could be months to get the money back so, if ever. Hard to believe it's anything other than a deliberate stalling tactic.

You have a better chance of getting the refund thing to go through when the server load is not as much. I got mine through at about 5am on the app.

I cant get a refund for an upcoming cancelled flight. Website tells me booking code is wrong when it isn't.
Probably volume but, as other as have said, if there was a huge volume of people looking to make new bookings it would hold up.

Another query, I was due to fly on a one way ticket last Saturday (14th). Ryanair said we could change our booking. We decided to do that on the 13th but the website was stopping me (we could select new flights but not hit 'Continue').
I sent them an email to that effect and also tried contacting them though the Chat function but they were obviously crazy busy. I assume when things hopefully return to normal that the email will be enough for me to get at least flight credit from them.

The app states that it wont work there and must be done on the website

I logged onto live chat at 10.05am this morning and am still waiting to be spoken with. I appreciate the nightmare their staff must be going through though.

Refund form worked at 1st attempt for me this afternoon. Clicked on a link in the email they sent me to claim the refund, so the booking reference was automatically copied on to the form on the website.

Having the same issue with the incorrect booking reference on my flight to stanstead tomorrow morning.
Can i claim a refund even after the flight time has passed?
I'll try again tonight when there is hopefully less traffic on the ryanair site.

I got a txt telling me that my flight in the morning was cancelled. Tried the refund on the app with no joy. Just checked the app and it looks like my flight is no longer cancelled. Strange!

It appears that I've been put on a later flight. What the hell is happening

After a bit of a struggle, I managed to apply for a refund for my cancelled Amsterdam flight next month. Found it was easier to apply through the app once I was logged in as I kept getting that dreaded "the name and booking number don't match" message when I tried to do it directly through the Ryanair website.
