    Hi

Just checking that there is no restriction to working as a clerical officer in a Garda station in your home town?

I don't believe so. Someone I know transferred from their current Department to the local Garda station.

What are the chances that vetting will be still be in process during this emergency?

A family member works in our hometown garda station. No idea on the vetting. Might be something that can progress remotely anyway.

Can't imagine they would forgo vetting. I have heard anything about Garda ststions urgently needing extra admin staff.

I didn't mean they would forgo vetting, I meant what are the chances that it was still actively in progress during the current emergency?

Vetting is handled by a dedicated Garda vetting office who will still be operational, as hundreds of medical staff returning home still need to be vetted before taking up posts with HSE. Vetting for staff working in the Gardai usually takes longer than standard Garda vetting, as they do a deeper check due to the access staff have to sensitive information/documents etc. Not unusual for it to take a few months.

No, standard civil service rules apply. You won't really have access to anything sensitive about the locals in a standard clerical position. Might see the odd thing but it's all covered by the official secrets act, data protection and so on

Does anyone know if the dress code is similar to other CO jobs (jeans, top) or do you need to wear Shirt and trousers?

Garda have their own dress code in the handbook and the example is trousers, shirt and tie but jeans are on the acceptable list.

Incidentally plenty of Garda Staff, at all levels, have access to PULSE. Misuse is dealt with pretty harshly as you'd expect.

Jeans and top are totally fine as a CO in any garda station I have been in.

I was offered by local town and turned it down due to the vetting period. I got another department.
