How do I turn off a single (old) gas radiator in my house?

Call me a numpty for not figuring this out, but I have a room in my house that I use a lot, and it does get warm enough - too warm at times..

I'm not familiar with these radiators at all. There are two valves, one turns to a stop (left side) and the other doesn't seem to do anything...

To put it simply: I want to isolate this radiator in my house, but not worry about the others still being on.

    Anyone?

Left side is the valve to turn off and on. Clockwise off, anti clockwise on.

Thanks. I'll see how it goes later on tonight.
