RTE player - casting to devices

I generally use the FireTV (4k) stick to watch content aside from having a Sky subscription (which I eventually want to drop).
    Anyhows TLDR is

What is the current situation regarding how best to view or cast (from phone) RTE Player ?

As far as I can see it is next to impossible to cast it from phone->firestick.
    How about Chromecast devices ?
I don't own one but they are cheap so I might invest in one of those.

Hopefully not a rant .. but is hard not to.
I just cannot get with the RTE player app, in any case.
I just tried to skip to see end of Late Late Show as it supposedly had an item which it looks as if was cut due to the health/hand washing segment being inserted.
Even on my phone I had to endure an unbelievable amount of adverts in order to skip to the end of the show.

The ITV or Channel 4 apps don't impose anywhere near as much advertising on the users , from experience (rant over ;) )

Its muck, it was always muck but whatever "upgrades" were made to it last year have made virtually unusable.

RTÉ Player via Chromecast works flawlessly for me if it's not a live broadcast. I never get ads so I find it strange to see someone say ads are a problem when using Chromecast.

    Same for me.

Watching it live is strange, in that they play music through the ad breaks. It’s the modern equivalent of the “Potter’s Wheel” (you have to be of a certain vintage, ok?). I could understand it if they showed the adverts there and then.
