I need to weld brackets on to a bucket for the front loader
Will an ordinary welder do the job?

An ordinary welding plant will do perfect as long as the man welding it is capable of doing it. Last thing you want is a bucket falling off going down the road.

It wouldn't need to be done with a c2 welder?

No the arc will be stronger as long as it’s done right. Co2 can be dangerous in the wrong hands.

Clean down the places where it’s being welded , arc welder perfect for the job .

As other posts have said, any welder will do, arc or mig but it’s the ability to weld is the issue. I consider myself able to weld but I’d still get a professional to do that job. Not that I or you wouldn’t be able, but it’s a serious safety issue if that cracks and comes off (might take a few years) and you’ll be the next one on the news for a farm accident.

It’s relatively inexpensive to have it done properly and it’s done forever.

Agreed, im doing up an old JCB 407 at the moment. Will happily weld small bits, but wouldn't touch anything load bearing.

It's all about the penetration of the weld. If you are experienced enough, you'd have a good feel for the penetration you're getting. Arc welding woudl be the best for this reason.
MIG will give a tidier looking weld though. You should maximise the weld area as much as possible too.
