Can you help me figure out the simplest and most effective way to get my satellite network setup?
I want to go with SKY Q but also want to wire so that I have flexibility.

I have all rooms that need TV wired with with 2xCOAX and 2 x CAT6. All wires run to plant area in the attic.

See below what I am thinking so far:

Is it possible to use a multiswitch like this with sky Q or do I just wire the lnb direct to the main SKY Q box? Then use the network switch on the Multiscreen box?

Or am I missing something here?

The multiroom box connects to the main SkyQ box wirelessly as standard, ethernet is also possible - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVFRKbH6lYY

SkyQ won't work with a standard multiswitch, it either requires a 2 cable connection to a wideband LNB on the dish or a single cable connection to a SkyQ compatible dSCR multiswitch. A dSCR multiswitch is also compatible with legacy FTA/Freesat receivers.

If you currently have a standard multiswitch in place an add-on switch, like this Triax TMDS 42C dSCR multiswitch, will provide you with dSCR outputs for SkyQ and the new range of Freesat receivers.

Triax range of dSCR multiswitches - https://www.triax.uk/products/satellite/multiswitches/dscr-multiswitches
Whyte range of dSCR multiswitches - https://whytetechnologies.com/products/seriesd
Vision range of dSCR multiswitches - https://vision-products.co.uk/ev5-dscr/

Also available from Johansson and Inverto.

OP bear in mind the following:

Sky Q Multiscreen boxes do not have tuners of any kind in them. They are literally slaves to the main box. Running coax to them is pointless - there’s nowhere on the back of the box to plug the cable in.

Sky Q really is designed to avoid the need for complex set ups like this. Just two cables needed for Multiscreen - power to the wall and HDMI to the TV. And once set up you can move it about to your hearts content with no running cables as long as there is a power socket available.

Now if you want to mix Sky Q and Freesat that’s a different kettle of fish.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I haven't purchased any switch yet - can a single dSCR switch leave me with the option for freesat on all TVs along with Sky?

Yes. This is what I did. The Triax units (and probably others) have a dSCR mode and a legacy mode and each outlet switches automatically.

The new range of Freesat PVR receivers works with 2 cable legacy and wideband LNBs and single cable dSCR multiswitches. Two tuners available with the legacy LNB and 4 with the wideband and dSCR options.
