    ...what would you spend it on?

    Not a huge amount of money but something for a little investment

    * Stock
    * Machinery
    * Something in the shed
    * Etc.

    Trading as Sullivan’s Farm on YouTube

    5000e Euro worth of lotto tickets for the next draw 😂 ah no, I’d put it towards the yard or bit of a shed. It would be easy spend

    Put it towards buying that skid steer I always wanted or buy a few Fleckvieh in calf heifers to see what the breed is like.

    It definitely wouldn’t be spend on anything for the farm.

    Save a good chunk into the house deposit account and spend the rest on myself and family.

    Same here, definitely wouldn't be spent on the farm. Need a new shower in the house. Would give 1k to my parents and rest would go on a good holiday

    Treat my tractor to four new tyres. No idea what change is left from that if any.

    Or 5k worth of calf group hutches to ease some pressure on housing.

    If I had enough land buy 100-200 good Friesian Calves. Problem is you would need about another 250-300/ head to get them to yearlings. You would manage to rear 20-30 of them to yearlings with 5k in capital

    Jeez there’s so many silly little things you’d drop €5k on.

    I think I’d have to put it to family use, we have a hard and fast rule that no money goes into the farm account, it either stands on its own or **** it, I can’t be spending family money propping it up.

    Might put it into a van, still hoping to pick up a van in the autumn to do a camper conversion over the winter. Maybe a pipe dream but a lad has to have one.

    I would lie and say it was a €5k voucher for Milwaukee tools.

    I think a lot depends on where you are as a farmer in the farm development. If you are at the start up/development stage then you will need to invest to develop the farm.

    If you are at a low stock level then extra stock would be the first choice. Looking at the moment calves are a good option if you wanted to expand stock numbers. However a lot depends on what you want to do with them. If you intend finishing them Fr calves are as good an option as any other but will burn money for first 6 weeks, you should be able to find yourself after that.ind you there is a few Bob to be turned on Fr if selling as yearlings at present.

    However if the market turns these FR yearlings will drop in price first and hardest. If that happens and again you intend to finish opting to purchase these and sell at 28-30 months is an option.

    After stock fencing is a must for any part time farmer and good fences will throw time free and give peace of mind if going away for a few days.

    5k has limited spending in a farm setting but it could help set the farm up. As well remember if working farm losses can be written off again income for a few years and this again throw's spare cash for investment

    Herself would spend it inside the house and I would spend it on an nice area outside the house maybe a closed in area for a barbecue and enjoy the summer evenings I would say the kids would like a week in Spain. I can garantee one thing not one penny of it would be spent on the farm.

    I'd buy more calves and the cmr to rear them :)

    Absolutely not. French alps for a week, either DIY or with a good tour operator I know. Never spent more than 1200e all in.

    Ya we were there over the Xmas holiday period. Most expensive time to go. Hotels were actually cheaper than air b and b believe it or not. The expense only starts after flights and accommodation. We got flights and hotels for 2 + 2 for a 13 nights for under €4k. Tickets were all bought by a florida resident relative so were heavily discounted.
    Once in a lifetime trip for kids so we did it all.
