I booked a holiday to Morocco in June.
Total cost is €3000 but only paid €200 deposit.
    Another €500 due tomorrow.
I am happy to lose the €200 deposit but can you usually just cancel?
Flights were over €1000 but i assume they are booked at the time of booking the holiday.

Would you get away with cancelling and then cancelling my card or do they make a charge on your card at the time of booking?

Depends on the provider. Some are not cancellable at all

The card cancelling is fraud and won't work anyway as they'll be able to charge the new card

Indeed, the chargeback is intended as a redress when shafted by a business, not a free pass to reclaim non refundable deposits
