I was planning to convert attic of a garage 9m long x 6m wide for storage. Roof Pitch is at 30degrees. However roof height will be about 5 foot 5 inches from the joists to highest point of roof making it a waste of time. No roof is on garage as of yet. Its at wallplate level. Builder contractor charging an arm and a leg to put up 2 more rows on wall above joists and make slight change to roof pitch and not sure also if that will make garage look unusual.

Is there any other practical way around it?

If the roof went to 45 degrees would it work?
