    Hi all

Looking for some advice with regards to a watch for my husband on our wedding day

I’ve narrowed it down to the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic80 in blue. But having difficulty finding a good deal.

Went to arnotts, official Tissot dealer in Ireland and they wanted €810. Can be got of tissot website for €790? Salesperson was useless and didn’t have a clue.

Found same watch on chrono24 (any good/safe?) for around €600, and have read reviews online of people paying as low as €550.

I’ve been to a few other jewellers that stock tissot and none has it in stock and just kept pushing other brands and watches on me.

Any advice welcome, is it a good watch and brand and what price should I be paying for it?

    Thanks

Hour Passion in Dublin Airport might be a good option if you're flying any time soon.

I doubt they'd have that in their Kildare Village but they might be able to request it from the airport?

Go to the Canary Islands on your honeymoon, lots of Tissot (and other major brands) authorised dealers in the tourist areas. You'll get at least 25% discount on Irish prices, just tell him to wear it thru customs on the return flight. The customs duty-free limit for goods brought in is €430 per adult from outside EU which includes Canaries, Channel Islands and Gibraltar.

I have used Chrono 24 a lot in past year (have to stop soon). I have found it very good, especially dealer's or people with history. Both new and 2nd hand watches , so ensure it is new, if that is what you are look for. Some fabulous vintage watches there, currently wearing a 1962 Omega Seamaster 600 I bought there for €500.
Also don't be afraid to haggle, many will accept lower offers, if only the price of postage!

I would assume he needs to be wearing it on his wedding day

Surely he'll know what time to turn up at?

These days no one 'needs' a watch anytime, anywhere. Let him wait.
