Timer not switching boiler on for hot water only

3 zone timer, downstairs, upstairs and water.
Upstairs and downstairs heating work fine but when the water timer activates, it doesn't call the boiler on.
This is a new problem as it has always worked fine for approx 10yrs.
A valve at the water tank does actuate but the boiler does not switch on.
There is a thermostat fixed to the front of the tank and by adjustment, I can hear it mechanically switching around ambient temp.
Is it most likely a dodgy thermostat? Would this fail high for safety?

Thanks in advance for any info

If wired conventionally it's most likely the motorized valve. Micro switch not closing.

The boiler needs feedback from the valve to switch on?
LED on the valve does activate but not sure if it's actually moving position

Yes, if wired as stated above.

Could the cylinder thermostat have got turned down accidentally, it happened to my misses when she shared an apartment with friends

Thanks but no, that's not the case here.

    Tested as follows:

    1. Switched boiler on by activating timer for heating.
    2. Activated timer for Hot Water
    3. LED on the Myson Power Extra (MPE222) switches on
    4. Valve does not move position.
    5. Water does not heat
    6. Moved Myson Power Extra (MPE222) to Manual mode
    7. Valve moves position
    8. Water heats up

Presume this indicates the actuator on the Myson Power Extra (MPE222) is faulty and needs replacing?

    Thanks

Assuming electrical connections etc. are in good order, Yes.
