So I took a hard hit monday night after playing hockey. I thought it was just wind knocked out me. I was wrong.

it is a struggle to move.

Bruised mine a few times before and it was surprisingly painful each time.

Liable to get a chest infection now too if you can't cough/clear your lungs well enough. At least I did each time.

Never mind OP, you can just sue the arse off everyone else and retire with a nice summer house on the Med. :) Sure isn't that what anyone who hurts themselves can do these day, as is my understanding anyway.

Wait until you forget about the ribs and then the pain hits you mid-sneeze and you lose it. So now you're in pain and you need to sneeze but can't.

Yes, it's a surprisingly painful thing to have.
When I got mine checked out, I couldn't believe that they weren't broken/fractured.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but these things take a long time to heal.
There is no treatment - just time and breathing exercises.

hoping 3 weeks is enough. Have a game again on the 21st

Yeah this happens because you're not breathing deep enough, cause it hurts. Coughs and sneezes are a killer too.

Not much you can do, just wait for them to heal.

Broke two ribs in a fall years ago.
    Not nice.

Are you sure it isn't actually broken? There really isn't any relief and you put up with the pain until it is gone. Best you can hope for is finding a position to sleep in that doesn't hurt.

Broke 3 ribs in a fall and it took about 4 months to heal. Had to sleep in a chair sitting up. Then one day the pain was gone. It didn't really ease much the whole time. Be careful how you carry yourself as it is easy to strain other muscles by over compensation. Rest is the best medicine

I broke a rib in late 2007, fracture healed within four months but stayed sore until mid 2013

My dad still complains about his sore rib from our family holiday circa 1998.

You will be lucky with 3 weeks. Did it myself a few times and always nearer 6 weeks

Are you sure he's not complaining about his 'spare rib' ?

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

cracked4 ribs a few years back....coughing, sneezing, and even laughing hurt like hell. Thankfully I never got the hiccups

I had to stay in miserable mood, even sleeping was hard as any tossing and turning in bed would mean pain

Pain is brutal alright, bruised mine last year. Was wincing having to walk to work, stepping off the footpath onto the road was excruciating and so was getting out of bed in the morning or standing up. I noticed my breath would cut out sometimes too.

It got much better after a couple of weeks so mine must have been fairly minor.

I'm immobilised for the next while due to injury. The best part of the day in when the painkillers kick in and I can doze off. The worst part is some of the tablets hitting my stomach; I have to lie down and wait for the room to stop moving while resisting the urge to hurl.

Ya I have the same with the breath. Can't toss in bed and barley able to walk to the shop
