Sky Packages/Offers - Confusing!

    Hi all,

Got a call from Sky ... offering offers :)

I took a Sky Sport & Cinema offer for 24 a month & free Sky Q box, install and dish

Reason I took it was for the new Q box but more importantly to replace a 15 year old dish (with the promise that they would replace at the chimney)

If I have sports and movies, I might as well look at it in HD for the 6 months too right?

    The options I see are
    - 8 euro a month for HD pack
    OR
    - 16 a month for Ultimate on Demand

I already have Netflix premium and am paying 15.99 a month

If I pay for Ultimate on Demand ...
Do I have to cancel my Netflix sub?
Do I get all Sky channels in HD?

    Thanks!
    Keith.

If you pay for hd you get everything in hd that's available and you are already subscribed to. Some oddities like E4, sky comedy etc where the hd version is buried down the epg but available and a good thing to store in favourites.
For Netflix, if it's still as it was when I did it. They sent me an email with a link where I could sync/transfer my existing Netflix account to them.
You shouldn't have to cancel Netflix if you just want to continue as-is. In fact my Netflix account shows I have some small credit with them should I ever cancel through sky.

Ah clearer now ... my add options have totally changed overnight! :)

    Add HD - €8 a month
    Add Ultimate - €8 a month

Will probably do HD sub as Sky Sports in SD is VERY dumbed down

... and if I am paying HD it makes sense to take Ultimate (and save a few euros on the Netflix sub)

Disney+ arriving to Sky too .... not clear whether there will be a charge.
Also unclear if Sky Cinema lose the Disney content

The kids used Sky Cinema for about 10 mins ... and went back to Netflix :)

Sky making it difficult to add anything to legacy subscriptions too

Every add on is forcing you to take up Sky Signature package - includes Documentaries and Boxsets - but of course if more expensive than the legacy package

Boxsets are sh*te ... looked for a HBO series called Succession ... only available from the Sky Store :( ... 30 yoyos for 1 season?!?

Yes seems they have changed things package wise even since this thread started.
Their boxsets do rotate and succession would be due a run before the new season but will probably be shown on the linear channel too around the same kind of time.

Baffling why they still rotate BoxSets when they are up against the likes of Netflix?!

Things disappera from Netflix too. They can only have it there for as long as the content creator permits.

Sky’s window for on demand seems to be a lot shorter than Netflix’s though - eg Game of Thrones only ever appears for a short window each spring.

Anyway, all packages for new customers completely revamped as of Wednesday. The new basic pack is Sky Signature (basically the old entertainment pack) but if you look on the website you’ll find it hard to buy - indeed they want you to take Sky Ultimate which is the same pack with Netflix included. Ultimate on Demand is gone and there is a new Ultra HD add on which tbh is even harder to justify since all it adds is basically Premier League games and Netflix in UHD if you have the right equipment. And they are still charging separately for HD in this day and age, when practically everyone must be taking it.

Not only that ... they seriously dumb down the SD picture on Sky Sports :(
