Question about Med2 form for dental expenses

    Hi,

I got my Med2 form from my dentist in January, and updated the information on Revenue online. I'm wondering how this works, will I get the tax back straight into my bank account, or with my paycheck? If so, how long does it usually take? I'm just confused because they don't request a copy of the Med2 form. Does the dentist provide them a copy?

Its self assessment so the dentist is not involved, you need to keep it for 6 years.
The refund will not come via your payroll, nothing to do with them.
Have you a bank acc set up on ROS

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

I do indeed, and have gotten refunds directly to my account before. I just thought it was strange that Revenue only Might ask for proof, what's to stop people from lying (not that I am)

Nothing, but they have a serious risk management system looking for the anomalies.
They also do Dental audits and collect Med 2 data and do cross checks

I see. So after filling in the health expenses on Revenue, is it just a waiting game or have I maybe filled it in wrong if I haven't received it by now?

Nothing whatsoever. It is what happens if you're caught that should worry you ;)
Interest and penalties over a number of years gets expensive fast.
