Fingal Speed Limits

    Fingal County Council are doing a consultation on speed limits. Please consider the proposals for your area and make a submission, whether you support the changes or not.

    Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Fingal) Proposed Bye-Laws 2020

    Fingal County Council in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 9 of the Road Traffic Act, 2004 (No. 44 of 2004) hereby gives notice of its intention to make Special Speed Limit Bye-Laws in respect of public roads within the administrative County of Fingal.

    The Draft Bye-Laws are available for inspection at https://consult.fingal.ie/browse from Monday 10th February 2020 to Friday 20th March 2020 inclusive. They are also available for inspection at Fingal County Council Offices and Fingal County Council Libraries as follows from Monday 10th February 2020 to Friday 20th March 2020 inclusive:-

    Any person may submit observations, comments or objections to the Draft Bye-Laws from the date of the publication of this notice up to Friday 20th March 2020 and any objections received shall be considered by the Council. Such observations, comments or objections are to be made online at https://consult.fingal.ie/browse. Alternatively, objections can be made in writing and addressed to Mr. Andrew Nolan, Senior Executive Engineer, Operations Department, Fingal County Council, Grove Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 to arrive no later than 4.30 pm on Friday 20th March 2020.

    All comments, including the names of those making comments, submitted to the Council in regard this consultation will form part of the statutory report to be presented to the monthly meeting of Fingal County Council.

    Accordingly the statutory report will list the persons or bodies who made submissions or observations with respect to the proposed Bye Laws.

    The submissions will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and consequently will appear on the Council’s Website. By making a submission the name of individual or bodies will appear on the statutory report and minutes of the meeting.

    A lot of the "non-housing-estate" roads are left 50, even though they're quiet residential routes : In Skerries the lanes from south shore out to the street,
    All the lanes around South Shore road in Rush,
    The single lane wide roads in Lusk - at the Bottom shop, hands lane, Barrack Lane, Church lane should be 30

    This is what I've written about that area of Skerries, as an example of what might be possible with most of the town / village centres. My submission is 40 pages long already.

    Harbour Harbour Road Narrow & busy with cars, but also often has adults & children on bikes on the roadway. People walk on the roadway at busy times day or night. It is also busy at times with people drinking. Footway on one side only.

    Harbour Skerries Pier Pier with one side open to the water.
    Harbour The Dorn Vehicular cul de sac, no footway.

    Thomas Hand Street Thomas Hand Street Retail and residential. Narrow due to on-street parking. Heavy traffic and nearly all the time cars have to yield to each other or buses to get around cars parked, usually legally - it's narrow at points.
