    Hi folks
Currently running 5W30 in my 2006 Prius. It's using 200/300ml every 1000km. Currently 274,000km on the clock.
Should I move up to a 10W40 for slow the oil consumption?
    Thanks

Stick to what is recommended, 10w40 would not be suitable.

OW-20 AFAIK similar to most hybrids

Shell says 5w30 but at -18°C to >38°C you can use 10w40
I'd try a good brand of 5w40, I've had good results with Petronas 5w40 Syntium 3000 AV

Thanks for the replies folks. 5W30 C3 is the recommended grade alright. I remember many moons ago on this forum some posters saying that 10W40 suits Toyota petrol engines better when they have some mileage on them or are burning oil. It might have been for the first generation Auris.
