You would wonder how a 35 year old could be so wise what with all the speeches about clinate change. He has rapt audiences. He must give a lot of thought to climate etc. It's strange then he's not on Newsnight being questioned about his opinions.

A 35 year old is somehow too young to be knowledgeable about climate change? That’s a proper middle aged man you’re talking about.

He's unemployed now. So, he needs to do something.

I think he has incredible moral courage. I have serious respect for him, it takes some courage to turn your back on such hands on 'caring security' and look after your family in a completely ;normal' way after knowing nothing but the taste of silver spoon.

Yeah, it's not like someone in his position has staff and speech writers ...

If by moral courage you mean Mr Markle is doing what he's told, then yeah.

True, but he will have to wipe his own ass from now on....so to speak.

Sure, why not, lets say that..... changes nothing but we'll say that.

But do you think that if he is giving speeches about climate and disability and so on, that he should be grilled like anyone else about these matters? For example if an MP gave a speech about climate change he or she would be asked questions and challenged about what they said. The same MP woud almost certainly have had to have their homework done in terms of being up to date with government reports and studies and so on.

I'm sick of hearing about him and his wife Angela Merkel.

Ahem.. His wife is Meagan Markle. The lady you are talking about is the German chancellor.

He wishes he could get with a cracker like Merkel.

I'd say Angela is more fun than passionately woke Meghan.

The more I see of the royals, the more glad I am that we declared a republic.

It’s such an odd anachronism of an institution and the tabloid obsession with them and their inability to find a role in modern society shows just why it’s all a bit nuts.

I mean can you imagine having to swear oaths to, or just have this expectation that you should bow down and respect a particular family? It’s like some kind of left over from medieval times.

It's very odd how worked up people get about someone they nothing about and have never met on real life. It's almost like people are taking their queues from passionately right wing websites and individuals.

    Solo thought is lost...

So just because he dressed up as a Nazi one time for a laugh years ago you're calling his wife Hitler. Classy move.

Whilst I’d agree broadly with you, the queen herself is a good head of state. She carries herself with dignity and a lot of other head of states could learn a little from her.
Regards Harry I suspect him and his brother are decent blokes but the ridiculous life they’ve had is not one anyone should have to live.

No the queen pretty much walks about the place and keeps her mouth shut. Other heads of state have a right to speak because they actually have some political power.

If she’s that good she can stand for election like any normal head of state in a democracy. We’ve had several extremely good presidents too.

The fact that they’re individually ok doesn’t change the nature of the institution nor does it deal with scenarios like Prince Andrew. If he were an elected rep, the situation would be VERY different.

I wasn’t making a point about monarchy just one person. I wasn’t pushing for her or claiming she was better than some of our presidents. I just made one point that she carries herself with dignity that other head of stated could learn from.
Normal heads of state don’t necessarily stand for election there are plenty of monarchy’s and dictatorships about. I believe having a monarchy is nonsense and just wrong but my two points aren’t mutually exclusive.

Ha, a properly prepared MP, doubt it of late. Just look at anything Brexit related and the utter rubbish they come out with, its nothing but opinion, not a fact in sight

Maybe a few years ago, but not now. Now they just spout any old crap and claim they're being harrassed if asked to back up their assertions. Even when caught flat out lying they take no responsibilty.

A president (with VERY little powers) is a leftover from Constitutional Monarchy. No point in having them.

The Judiciary and Parliament (via the people) is all you need, along with a healthy media. The Seanad should be retired also, and would have been if people didn't use the referendum as a stick to beat the government of the day.

    35 you say.

Greta thunberg might have something to say about that.

Royals don't have to explain themselves. Not after Prince Andrew!
