Receiver control from another room ..aka magic eye

I have a Tiviar alpha plus that I'm really happy with. SWMBO has decided that the TV and receiver have to be tidied up !!!. The neatest way will be to put the receiver in the attic and hide the cables by chasing the wall or maybe a same colour piece of electrical conduit.
I have used a 'magic eye ' on sky boxes before but on non sky boxes the IR repeaters are a bit mickey mouse. Reasonably tech savey and would like to ask for any suggestions as to how to control the receiver from another room. Distance from receiver to TV would probably be 3 or 4 m when complete.
    thanks in advance

Get yourself a Logitech Harmony remote with a hub and you can hide it away in a cabinet. Putting the box in the attic is always a bad idea.

I say attic but its a 'dormer' so the receiver would be in an accessible cupboard upstairs. In the space between the partition wall and the roof if you know what I mean!
Thanks for the suggestion will look at it now

Remember boxes need air to keep cool.

It's a bit rudimentary but you can always use the Webif on your phone. Gives you the basic functions without spending a lot on a Harmony.

That is true. You can also use the Dream player app on Android to connect to webif on the Tiviar if you have an Android box, Android TV or fire stick
