It's a start but it's something that should have been done years ago. The road network via Oylgate needs to be completed. The train arrival /departure needs to be aligned with sailing times. A LO/LO option could be put in place to offer a catch all option to shipping lines.

Be a decade before you see that road and changing train arrival /departure needs to be aligned with sailing times won't happen its apparently due to the effect it would have on other train times in the Dublin commuter area.

Trains to/from Rosslare have been aligned with sailings on the Rosslare - Fishguard route since Stena Line changed the sailing schedule in May 2017.

For example the 04.00 ferry arrival has an onward train to Wexford/Wicklow/Dublin at 05.35
The 16.25 ferry arrival has an onward train at 17.30

The train arrives at 16.30 for the 18.10 sailing to Fishguard
There is no train for the 08.00 sailing but the Local Link from Wexford reaches the port in time at 07.30

Five out of the six arrivals/departures on the Rosslare - Cherbourg route are rail connected at Rosslare

Is there any marketing of this route and connections - at all? No need to answer.

There used to be pamphlets at major London railway stations back in the day as well as many travel agents & adverts in local & national press. :D

It was never the same when after the HST Intercity trains were stopped from Swansea to be be replaced by some knackered Pacer railcar to Fishguard. IE then stopped the direct train from Rosslare to Limerick Junction, making westward passengers wait until lunchtime for a connection at Waterford.

Early 2000's their was a deal advertised as above, 2 adults c/w kids for free for £60.00 so we would be over 3-4 times a year.

Never noticed much marketing since, Seat 61 website probably does more promotion than the railway & ferry companies nowadays.

Whilst the connections arriving in Rosslare are better for travellers arriving, the evening sailing from Rosslare involves a break in journey in Swansea :( for 3-4 hours if travelling to Cardiff & beyond. Morning departure is hard to catch unless you are staying nearby.

Caught the morning service last year, while it's definitely awkward to be at the port for 8 the alternative would have been to be at Dublin Airport for 7. If you can get it I really do think it's a great service and great value - if a bit tedious. For short notice journeys it's significantly cheaper than a flight and if it was better known it might attract some local business. The days however of the boat and train, of a bustling passenger terminal in Rosslare with the bar still open and shops inside doing flying business are over and not coming back. While it's a shame to see the terminal so quiet it's time for the port to get a move on into the 21st Century and provide services people want to see. In the summer, there's anything from 20 to 100 foot passengers on the morning sailing to Fishguard and around 20 on the sailing to Pembroke. Aside from days when Oakwood trips operate (Wed/Sat in August) when there's around 2 - 300 foot passengers, the terminal is completely empty except for office staff.

I think most of the Rosslare foot passengers to & from Fishguard just arrange to be picked up by friends & family from the ferry. Maybe use taxi's if they get stuck.

I know BE cancelled the morning bus from Rosslare to Cork earlier this year, I suppose you would have to get the local bus to Wexford & then Waterford to get a bus to Cork nowadays if arriving on the early ferry. Also the direct London to Cork service was withdrawn.

I don't think there is a bus connection from Waterford or New Ross, even with changing in Wexford for the early ferry departure from Rosslare either?

The 07.00 and 09.00 buses are still running from Rosslare to Waterford, and are probably the busiest buses out of Rosslare
