Electric fire

Moving into a secondhand house and I have to replace the fireplace which is going to cost around €3000 for a pellet stove and remedial works.

I am also considering putting in Solar PV panels with battery. If I were to shell out a considerable level of money on the 14 panel pv system incl battery, would it be more beneficial for me to replace with an electric fire?

What size heater would it take to heat a space approx. 24sq.m. Do they all dry out the air in the room (my previous experience of electric fires)? Possible to inset into narrow chimney breast when the fire back is removed? Do I need to retain the marble base?

Not sure what the thought process is with installation of solar and the electric fire. When you have solar gain ie summer you probably will be using the fire least ?

Before spending a penny on PV (it will take 14 to 20 years just to get back the investment) I woold look at the insulation of the house. This is where the biggest savings are. You would be far better spending 15K on insulating a badly insulated house than spending 15K on solar. This is asuming you have a badly insulated home
