    Hi all,
the OH had car in town a couple of months ago and had it parked on a quiet street. Some driver managed to sideswipe the back passenger side door even though it’s not a narrow street and took off afterwards„.....wife only realised it had happened when she got home.

Brought the car down to a local garage man there last week for a service and he had look at the door.It has fair bit of ripple type damage on it halfway down and also a bit of damage over the wheel arch.

He reckons it needs a replacement door as fixing it not feasible.I asked him to contact a few breakers to see if he could come across a door....it’s a silver 2008 saloon model. He told me to look online.

Can anyone recommend good online sites that are competitive price wise, are reliable and have a good supply of parts?

Thanks for any ideas or feedback.

    Partfinder.ie

Put in your car details and breakers see what you need and email back with prices.

Used it a few times, very easy and I'd imagine a car like that will get you a good few responses as most breakers will have one.

Any photos? Paintless dent removal may be an option.

You can be lucky or unlucky, a lot of times you need to ring.

Thanks to you all for replies, paint is damaged on door,do you mean to ring the actual breakers that say they have that matching door?

Not a big car person,to me it’s a ‘Silver’ coloured door....from that vintage of Skoda Superb is there only one ‘Silver’’?

Get the list from partfinder of breakers that have silver superbs for breaking.
Ring and ask them as some don’t follow up on emails.

Silver is silver, but there are other light colours that could incorrectly be called silver.

When you say get the list from Partfinder how do you go about that?
Do you ring them or email them?

    Thanks for any thoughts.

Do a search by make/model year, and it’ll give you a list, select the ones in the right colour and they’ll tell you which breakers they are. Some have photos of the car, some not.

Dont bother with ones that are in stock a long time.

Thanks for all replies...will contact a few of those breakers tomorrow....will let ye know how I get on if I get what I need.

Got sorted with door from place in Galway....was perfect match colour wise as well which was great.

As luck or bad luck would have it I left the front windows down one day lately in car and one of those torrential rain showers that lasted 15 mins came.....forgot that the fecking windows were down:(

Went out to find seats soaked...but wouldn’t mind that .....the electrics on driver side door for putting up and down electric windows were drenched:(........to put it into context the door well where you can store pens etc was half full of water so serious amount of rain got in.Dried it all off as well as I could with strong tissues and small towel.

I left the car running the rest of that day with the heat on to try and coax out some of the Moisture from electrics mechanism on driver door iykwim. And left the windows down any day since that was dry to try and let internals of door dry out.
No response the next day or since if you try to raise or lower both windows in front of car.....back windows button is working perfectly. It’s a 2008 Skoda Superb.
What’s next best step to get front electric windows working again?.....look for part in a breakers??

Sorry for long post.....thanks for any Replies.

I’d say it’s just the switch. Have you taken the switch apart?

I’m not mechanically minded....if I brought it to my local garage man would he be able to diagnose the problem fairly quickly?....
Would you need the whole black electric panel on door replacing or just the switches for two front windows do you reckon?

    Thanks for reply.

If you hold the lock/unlock button on your key and all four windows raise/lower correctly, or if you can open/close the windows using the passenger switches then its most likely just the window switch. The 4 window switches come as a single part although it may be possible to order them separately I’m not sure. I believe the part is about €70 to €100 and takes about 30 minutes to fit. Best leave it in with the local mechanic

Normally you just prise out the plastic housing with the 4 window switches on most cars
Any mechanic would pop it out in 2 minutes
