Should RTE bring back Atlantic 252 from time to time for fun?

You know the way Manx radio broadcasts radio Caroline on their am frequently sometimes, why don't RTE bring back Atlantic 252 on lw 252, say for an easter weekend and see what the reaction would be? original jocks like Dusty Rhodes, Al dunne, Rick o_shea etc I'm sure would be up to it, They could do some sort of charity element to the whole thing like Christmas FM

Cos they haven't the money (apparently) to keep the services people actually want on the air, never mind a LW programme nobody would pay any attention to in the digital age.

Whatever about the practicalities about this idea, i.e. financial, it certainly is a nice thought for a visit down memory lane. It probably won't happen for a myriad of reasons, primarily financial, but, still, who knows what might be possible.

Afterthought: Just before RTE Radio One took over the frequency fulltime, there was a charity experiment involving celebrities on 252 LW called Charity 252, which linked up with RTE.

My memory of 252 is it would play a couple of songs, then spend the next couple of minutes telling you your listening to Atlantic 252.

LW is a dead broadcast medium. Clearly some people have fond memories of Atlantic 252, but it would not be acceptable for RTE to spend time/money/resources on a tribute broadcast, even it was for charity.

Leave it the way it is. RTE Gold during the night on 252 for the time being brings some 90s memories back on LW.

Unfortunately as they are rumoured to only use about 40kw night time power now, it's impossible to enjoy

RTE radio is awash with money, while all other music stations are on autopilot at weekends, 2fm have 13 djs all doing a 2 hour show each.
