Haven't found a thread on this. Anyone here try it? If you don't know what it is, it is essentially the Netflix of video games. It was designed for those with lower spec computers, MACS, etc to be able to play the latest games. There are 2 memberships: free, but you can only play for up to one hour at a time; $4.99 a month for 12 months (price likely to increase in the future), with a play time of 6 hours at a time. You must own the games in order to play them (through Steam, Epic, etc). It's all cloud based. I'm not tech savvy so don't know whether this is a good or bad thing. If it's good, I wish I knew about it before Christmas before buying a fairly heavy duty PC.

    I'm using it. I had too, I'm between Graphics cards right....now. :)
Very easy to use and no controller needed. It's a technical achievement too. Will definatly be buying a few more games just for this later in the week.

Anybody else use this? Been messing around with it on Nvidia Shield Pro for the last week and its fairly impressive.

I used to use it on my Shield, but after the service left beta all the games I played were pulled by the publishers. Ended up building a PC instead.

My PC is really in need of an upgrade but funds are low and cant justify blowing 1k on a PC. This might tide me over for a while. So far everything ive tried runs super. Might even upgrade to the high tier to keep me going for 6 months.... Im really surprised with the quality of this.

As per here Nvidia RTX Discussion - Page 185 — boards.ie - Now Ye're Talkin', I've been checking this out over the past couple of days. I just went to play Witcher 3 there and although it's fully installed and playable through Steam locally, when I try to launch it from within GeForce Now I'm being prompted to install it - does anyone know what the deal is there? I re-synced my Steam account to no avail. Other Steam games are fine.

Should not have to have it installed locally to play and even if it is it should not matter. Never got an install message in GeForce but only been using it a few weeks.

In the end I just tried clicking install and, despite it appearing that the entire ~52GB game was about to be re-downloaded, it launched within 60-90 seconds.

Once again, being able to select 'Ultra' for all graphics settings and then having the game run smoothly is impressive!

I'm subscribed to the RTX 3080 GFN, it's awesome for games you just want to drop into without the hassle of downloading and installing and runs everything I've tried absolutely maxxed using up to about 45mbit for 4K

Not having to install games is so brilliant. Its great to be able to dip in and out of games without the bother of installing. Such a simple thing but it makes a massive difference. Now if Nvidia would only do a deal with Xbox game pass to get all their games compatable.

being using Geforce Now exclusively over the last month and it really is a great service. Is it just me or is the games library a complete pain. I think steam games update accross automatically but if other platforms have games added there no way of knowing. Also in the app there no way of seeing a full list of supported games. maybe it just me but its bugging me..

    Hi all,

Been using Geforce now for a few weeks and really enjoying it. Playing mostly multiplayer games. Just wondering if anyone has a work around for ingame chat or mic use ? Cannot find to much info on the net regarding it and Nvidia are saying it is not possible through Geforce now at this moment in time.

    Cheers.

From what started out as such a brilliant service has turned into a bit of a let down. Nothing wrong with the service but the top games are just not there. Have not used it in weeks Such a pity.

Here's a tip I didn't know, you can play ubisoft games from your pc gane pass collection. You just need to link your xbox account to your ubiconnect account.

Also, if you're like me and have been on the fence about God of War, if you buy it now and launch the game before 1st July you.get to keep the game on the service even after it is removed.

I suspect the reason Sony are removing it is because they found out people were playing GoW on their xbox via GFN on the browser 😄

Been messing around about again with geforce now as a few titles I wanted to try out are available. Problem I'm having us service runs as smooth as butter on my Nvidia shield pro but when I try same game on my gaming pc it runs crap. PC is above average and its same 60mbps broadband, both wired connections. Running geforce on crap notebook also looks great on slightly reduced resolution. Strange that the pc runs so crap.

Any really good games worth checking out on Geforce Now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,078 ✭✭✭Glebee

You would really need to go in and have a look at the catalogue yourself, it depends what you are into. Some of the AAA games are there alright but not enough for my liking. Also a lot of dross in my opinion. Had subbed to the highest teir earlier in the year as wanted to play Valhalla and my aging PC ran it crap. Through Geforce Now it ran perfect and looked brilliant. There was a massive difference in quality for me between the free tier and the top end. No comparison really and was definitely a big improvement in performance with paying for it.

Logged on this morning to try the free tier again and queue times are massive. Took to an hour at least to get in with 200+ ahead of me in the queue. Paid sub means no queues. Also missing 20 games at least from my Steam list that was playable previous that dont seem to be playable now. Also the catalogue system bugs the hell out of me and it seems so hard to find stuff.

Anyway new PC delivered but waiting for Christmas before I starting playing on it so maybe wont need geforce now as much.

I have to say that I did use the Geforce service through a nividia shield on the TV and the graphics were insanely good and performance excellent. Just dont like gaming from the couch though.

Nvidia and Microsoft have agreed deal to allow Xbox PC game game library to Geforce Now. Can only help the service as it was really missing AAA games I felt.

Anybody else still using Geforce Now, been messing around with it again recently and still having the same issues. Games run great on Shield and sh1te small laptop but when I try it on PC it runs poorly, strange one.
