RTE Player on LG Smart TV bought in the North

    Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone has bought an LG smart tv recently from the North/UK and was able to download RTE player?
Reason for buying in the North is we live near the border and have a sterling voucher for Curry’s UK.
Been given conflicting answers from sales assistants in Curry’s and other shops.
TVs are advertised with BBC iPlayer which obviously won’t work in the Republic but as long as the RTE player can be downloaded and used.
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.
PS. I understand most people hate the RTE player but it is a priority for us so please don’t comment just to share how useless you think the app is.
    Thanks so much

On LG TVs it is possible to set the location of the content store. If it is set to the UK you can download BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4, etc. If it is set to Ireland you can download RTE Player. Swapping the location requires a restart of the TV but your downloaded apps remain in place and work regardless of that location setting.

Note: The UK apps won't work with an Irish IP (even All 4 which works fine for other devices using an Irish IP).

Ah FFS really?! Can understand BBC iPlayer because that never works but All4?!
