Can anyone advise a good place to buy Tropical Fish just tetras, barbs, corys etc nothing fancy as I am only returning to fish after many years

I went to maxizoo in Finglas Clearwater this afternoon but I refuse to even dream of buying fish in a place where there are dead fish in some of the tanks

    Based in Dublin thanks

Best place by a long way. It's the only place I'll buy now.

That said I thought that maxizoo was meant to be good. The fish looked healthy and didn't see any dead ones when I was there it's a two years ago though.

Unless it's a dedicated aquarist store, don't bother basically. Few, if any, of the general pet shops have staff that know more than your average regular poster on here and even in the best of the specialists, do your own research about a breed (what size tank do they need / compatibility with tank mates / type of food favoured / pH preference etc.) before buying any of them.

Seahorse are really the only place I use these days and the only store owned and run by a qualified marine biologist.

Seahorse or Aquatic Village are the only two I'd use

It’s a good shop. But I first started keeping fish 3 years ago, they sold me 2 Anglefish , 2 Gourami, and 9 tetra in one go known that they were going into a new 57L tank.

    There’s one Anglefish left!!

Agreed, they make mistakes too which is why I stated above that anyone looking to buy fish should be doing their own research about stocking levels, compatability etc.
