Incremental Credit - Public Sector

    Hi,

I have been offered a permanent CO job with a public sector organisation. Is there any chance of me getting incremental credit for my below previous service:
    - I worked as a TCO for 2 x 3 month periods in 2006 and 2008
    - I worked as permanent CO in a semi-state public body for 12 months in 2018/2019

I think it's unlikely and I'll be starting on the first point of the salary scale but just want to check.

You can check with the payroll section of the dept you're going to. You can usually get credit for previous civil/public service at an analogous grade, i.e. at a similar level of payscale

All your time on public sector contracts, including TCO contracts count towards your overall service and increments. You do though need your official record of service in writing from HR section of the departments you worked for and provide copies of these to your new dept HR when you start. If you've done 18 months total already you should start on Point 2 of the scale and move on to Point 3 after 6 months in your new CO role.

Will probably need to start on point 1 and claim the time back.
    Talk to your local HR.

Thanks for the responses, much appreciated. One last question: is there a list of which public sector bodies allow incremental credit to be transferred or which bodies are eligible?

Not a prob- I've moved between CO contracts the Courts Service, HSE, ETB and DOJ, DEASP - all those service periods were totted up when calculating my point - But obviously the onus is on you to produce the written service record from your previous employers and provide copies to your new HR. They were all CO roles note.
