I had a car part, cost 180 euro from Toyota but it was for a Left hand drive car, I found someone in Purto Rico that had the part for a right hand drive car so he had to wrong part for his car so I contacted him and suggested that we swap. His part was 2nd hand and not in perfect condition but I accepted that and we both paid our own postage. So lets say the item is worth 150 as it is 2nd hand.

The item arrived today and customs are looking for 96 euro:eek:

Who do I contact to tell them they are off on their calculations and are charging too much. The duty and handling cost should be under 40 euro based on other items of similar value I have imported in the past.

For those charged too much customs on an item as long as you have proof of cost and shipping you can contest the amount by sending your info to the correct postal depot who sorted your package.

    Portlaoise Mail Centre -pmc@revenue.ie
    Athlone Mail Centre – amc@revenue.ie
Dublin Mail Centre & Dublin Parcel Hub - dmc@revenue.ie

Hope this helps someone not to get ripped off.
