    Hey,

I’m currently studying doing a QQI level 5 in early childhood education. I’m going on to do my level 6 in September but I’m just wondering, I know the pay scale is pretty bad for early years teacher here in Ireland but I can’t seem to figure it out online, say in a country like Australia?

I’ve been thinking about heading out to Australia after I finish college for a year but I’m only really gonna consider it, if the pay scale is somewhat different. I think it would be pointless for me to head off if they are pretty similar- I’d simply be wasting money on accommodation etc so I just want to know before I start the planning prep!

I know people in New Zealand , Australia and dubai working as early years teachers and they’re all on a decent enough wage. Dubai being the best as rent/utilities/healthcare etc are all paid.

But I’m almost certain you need a level 8 to access the higher salary people talk about.

In countries like Australia and in Scandinavia they have pay scales for early years teachers and here in Scandinavia "Barnhage" are state run so degree qualified staff are paid well.
In Ireland pre-school owners struggle to make any money and it can be a minimum wage job and no matter how hard you work unless you own a mega creche you will never make a high wage.
