I bought a 152 R-Line 177bhp DSG a year ago from the UK and i love it. Great car all around. Try get a high spec model because the basic spec is pretty dreary inside and out which is why i went for the R-Line.

The VW Arteon came out in 2017 I think. This replaced the CC.
It'll probably be a bit of a price jump because it't the new model but worth looking into.
    Great looking car.

Great motor to munch up the miles. Friend has one and it’s lovely, economical and reliable too.

But if your doing lots of tipping round town in and out of multi-stories and tight spaces they are a big old bus and pick up lots of parking door dings as a result.

Had 3 of these really nice cars definitely go for GT spec or R Line. I’d also recommend automatic. You can get some really nice interior leather like cream, brown, or red, personal preference I’d avoid the black leather as I found it a bit bland. The only thing I disliked was the fact it had the steering wheel of a 2010 Golf. Spec wise there’s just a few buttons along the gear shifter make sure there not all blanked out.

I have a 16 CC R and do 35000 plus miles a year in it. Purchased with 7000 miles on it and the only issue so far is a sensor that went. Good mpg usually 55+ on a long journey which I do plenty of. Doesn't feel like a big car to drive this is coming from a golf gtd. Visibility takes a bit of getting used to due to the lower roof. Main issue I found is that it seems to eat back tyres for fun and I mean twice the rates of the front and this is with decent tyres on it. Not quite doing the mileage I was at the moment but will be again so will be keeping a close on eye on them. Also in the frost I find it extremely skittish no matter the tyre. Overall though happy with it and it still feels golfish for its size. Rs have god spec with the only downside the old steering wheel as another poster said but you don't be long forgetting this. Arteon a lovely car but a serious step up money wise.

Thanks for replies.Might test drive Passat also and see which is prefer.

If your test driving a Passat as well make sure your comparing like for like. Ie. Don’t compare a low spec 1.6 Passat to a 2.0 GT CC

Would a CC be more expensive to run and repair than Passat?Would the resale value be as good?

The passat and the CC are the same car just with different body panels etc. I can’t think of anything other than tyres that the CC would be more expensive to replace, they use the same parts, engine etc. One doesn’t depreciate any faster than the other really. The CC is just a more sporty version of the Passat

The 151 onwards Passat and the CC are most certainly not the same car with different panels. They’re completely different in every respect.

As much as I love the looks of the CC, a high spec 2016 Passat there would be no comparison. The Passat being far superior.

Sorry I was referring to the Passat B7.

I still found the CC far superior to the 1.6 B8 Passat, never drove a properly specced 2 litre, they do seem a good bit nicer than the CC

The CC is based on the previous generation Passat model which was launched back in 2005 and refreshed in 2011. A 2016 Passat would be the newer generation Passat launched in 2015 and is much more modern especially on the inside than the CC. The CC interior shows it's age too especially the centre console. The CC also has a lower roof line so if your tall you might find the headroom tight especially if it has a pan sunroof. The 1.6 diesel engine in the Passat feels pretty underwhelming and gutless. The 2.0 is much better.

The CC only comes in 2.0 at least it's a much nicer car than that awful A4 you were looking at..

Looking at the Arteon myself, seem like a serious car and high spec. The MPG seems really good compared to my Superb (190 DSG)

I’ve a 151 CC DSG 177BHP. Very well spec’d, auto lights/wipers, auto full beam headlights, parking sensors front and back, rear camera, comfort/normal/sport mode, keyless entry. The list goes on.

Black and cream leather interior which is really nice. I had a Passat 2L highline before it and much prefer the CC.

I did have the air blower fail which was replaced under warranty and both front wishbone joints had to be replaced, even though there’s only 66000 km on the clock.
Also more of a DSG thing than a CC but the oil had to be changed after 60000km which was expensive.

It’s a nice car to drive, plenty of poke and very comfortable. Drove to Galway and back over the weekend and it really came into its own on a long motorway journey.

The only thing I would say is that parts of the interior can be a bit rattly at times. It’s an issue I had with the Passat too. I thought I was just unlucky with the Passat but it’s annoyed me to the extent that I don’t think I will buy VW again.

My Passat and CC both 2L Diesel engines The Passat was 150bhp whereras the CC is 177 and the difference is very noticeable.
