i am sure you already know this..... I would personally pay more and get a better example... I would say that one is too far gone.... depends on your skills with a welder i guess...

How much is a real good one worth, aren’t they’re fairly plentiful and cheap in the uk ?, so economically yes it’s too far gone , if it was worth 50 k refinished then it’s not too far gone but I’d imagine you’d get a good one for £12 k and an average one for half that.
For what it’s worth I drove a real good 3 speed auto V12 recently and it was a joke compared to modern stuff, no go at all unless you made it rev By holding the stick back , and when it did rev it wasn’t happy.
The auto box only wanted to change up way before there was any surge forward, there was nothing wrong with the car but it was hugely disappointing , it’s amazing how a modern diesel would have much more low down torque , and a modern small petrol way more top end power.
Yes a V12 seems great on paper, but the Jag ain’t no Ferrari or Lambo , more like a lumbering 50’s American straight six in sound/punch and efficiency.

Its far worse than what you can see, it always is.
Its doable, but realistically at what cost. That type of bodywork repair will
    run into 4 figures easily.

So its either spend it on repairs, or up the budget for a better vehicle.

Of course if you are doing all the welding repair your self, well thats a different animal.

Way to go , a max 4 k should close that auction out, but it might come a lot cheaper.

But can you afford to fix extensive body work issues, thats the other side of the coin.

Plus the fact you cant get to see it in the flesh.
    Risky business.

    Shortcut to bankruptcy.

When it runs, it costs a fortune.
When it's not, it costs a fortune.

You'd be better off robbing a Merc!

Serious answer, if you cannot afford to buy one in a decent condition you're taking a massive chance you can repair this (or similar) for less.

Mate, just no. These cars cost a bomb to run at the best of times. Find one in somewhat decent condition if you must.

jesus, I see the appetite for a project car round here is a big fat 0 !

Ye are all correct of course, but I'm in this with the heart a bit I think, not the head.

    But you asked for opinions:p

Now you are trying to convince your self its a project car.

Can you or do you want to spend thousands on bodywork. If the answer is yes,
    go for it.

    Thats another opinion:D:D

If it's a project car (effectively a hobby) then of course, fire away. There's worse ways to spend money. But, it's very subjective, and input from others as to the sanity :D of it is a bit moot.
