DPF issue peugot 5008

Been driving a 2011 5008 from new, no major issues until saturday I drove from Dublin 7 to Naas and car went into limp mode outside naas. Insurance covered me for tow to a nearby (independent) garage and they diagnosed a diesel injector failure. Fast forward to today and €380 lighter, I pickup the car and journey back from south of Naas to Dublin. Just before Newland's cross I get a warning message 'risk of diesel particulate filter clogging' and I pull over. Never seen this before and assume it's something to do with the work done. I regularly do motorway runs in this car, interspersed with trips around the city a couple of times a week. I ring the garage and he advises me to drive in a low gear with revs over 3k. As i'm heading back to work in City centre, this wasn't very easy to do but I tried and the message went away for 15 mins, then returned briefly, then went away again until I parked. I spoke once again to the garage and he said due to the injector failure the fuel may have gotten 'dirtied' and the car is just picking that up and it should be fine. Am I clear now or what should I do if the warning returns? Any advice or thoughts appreciated. Cheers.

A bad injector could lead to incomplete combustion and increased particulates in the exhaust.

You need to connect the car up to some diagnostics equipment (probably Peugeot Diagbox/PP2000) to see the real status of the DPF, anything else is just guesswork.

Hey, so I brought to my own mechanic last Friday. When I drove the car the short 700m trip I noticed it didn't feel right. He was going to do a dpf Regen but stopped it as the engine wasn't right, thought it was a diesel knock. Recommended I should bring back to garage that did the replacement.

Had to get it towed on Saturday, luckily my insurance covered the call-out, so only €65. Left it with the original garage Saturday and when I called yesterday they said it was done, that he'd recoded the injector. Arranged for my father to pickup but then the garage called, said they did a test drive and was still not right, think he said something about a manifold and that the new injector was faulty and that he'd get another one into it.

Now, I'm concerned that due to this they've affected the dpf. I've spoken to them about this, he says it'll be ok. Should I insist they sort it or would the car naturally regen with some typical motorway driving. It's difficult to communicate with this guy as English is his second language.

The car measures DPF soot levels and differential pressure - Diagbox (or maybe other OBD-II scanners) will be able to tell you if something's wrong. Get the Diagbox kit yourself (plenty available on eBay) or find another mechanic.

thanks for your advice. I'm very happy with my local mechanic, just kicking myself I didn't get it towed back to him on the initial breakdown as I thought it wasn't feasible. cheers
