    Hi,

If you sell your family home in France, where you are tax resident (& Irish domiciled) in Apr 2020 and then move back to Ireland where you then become Irish tax resident in 2020, can you claim principal private residents relief from CGT on your French home?

Does the legislation state that the family home has to be in Ireland?

    Thanks.

The home is located in France, and so french tax applies to the disposal first.

Second, as you are not Irish resident then there is no impact from an Irish taxes position.

There may be reliefs in France, however you will need french tax advice.
