Just thought of a good idea that probably would be illegal but hey...

Why cant the pharmacy come to you? I mean if your bed-bound for the day, why not get them to drop in the flu medication and what not to you for (say) an extra few quid?

They already do this I believe. Maybe not on a formal basis but I know of a couple of pharmacies that will drop off prescriptions and what-not for housebound people.

For over the counter stuff, maybe there's something in that alright, but if we ever get Prime Deliveries here, that will cover it.

Since my childhood, born in 1961, pharmacies have been doing it on an ad hoc, informal basis. But it depended on them knowing your circumstances, ie that you had absolutely nobody to collect them for you. Sometimes they would oblige, sometimes understandably they did not have anybody available to deliver.

I see one chain advertising this service now. But a Pharancy Deliveroo type service would be a great idea. It wouldn’t be cheap, as they would have to recruit vetted responsible people who would be carrying perhaps medications like morphine for cancer patients who live alone. It would have to be formalised, but a really good idea for people with limited mobility living alone. The delivery person would have to be paid appropriately as they would gave a deal more responsibility. It’s not like getting chow mein by mistake when you ordered crispy duck.

Exactly. It would be nowhere near as bad as that.

You should tell your dealer not to be going to your house.

    Doesn't Lloyd's do this?

Healthwave in Dundrum do this. There's a membership payment structure. Cheaper on certain meds too. Still not as cheap as the UK, where I buy what I need when I'm there.

A neighbour collects my rare prescriptions but any OTC meds etc I get by mail order now. Used to be a pharmacy would post prescription meds but the law changed. There are a few mail order pharmacies now.

Yes the UK is easier. I looked up online pharmacies when I knew I would henceforth be housebound and they are much more amenable and helpful.

Now I do have an online pharmacy for OTC things and that is an enormous help
