Do you have a wife and kids?

I think if I was a young single guy who enjoyed working hard playing hard, I'd go for the 4 days off + extra money.

Did shift work when I was younger and wanted more money.

Word of note, working shift was no fun. It actually made me a bit unwell. The disruption in sleep patterns the night being day and day being night. Not good long term. I'd have a get out plan for it anywhere past 12months.

I did it for 6 and had enough

Have to agree I did it for 2 years its torture, is it 4 days straight then 4 days off straight ?
If your coming off nights onto your days off all the time you are missing the first day off basically, either you'll sleep all day or try get back to a normal pattern by staying awake and be wrecked for 2 days.

Have been working shift work for over 30 years, did this shift pattern for approx. 8 years, absolutely loved it.
4 days off per week is excellent.
It is definitely one of the best night shift patters to work.

You need a bit of discipline to get up early after your last night shift to get the most out of yours days off.
    I did 7am - 7pm then 7pm to 7am, in bed before 8 and up by 12 after the 2nd night shift.

Nearly ended up doing that pattern, heard it was one of the better shifts in terms of health.

But bear in mind that when you are on Day3, you will want to make the most of the day as it is essentially a 'day off' as you finished the evening before, but you need some sleep cos you are working that night and the next, so you might be tempted to get up early and stay up all day, which will leave you tired on that 1st night shift.

And you are always ending on a night shift, so essentially will have to spend some of your 5th day (1st off) sleeping. Some will lie in til 4pm, others will get up at noon, everyone is different but it could essentially turn a 4 x 12hr shift pattern into a 5 day if you spend a lot of Day 5 in bed!

Edit: as someone said above, a lot depends on your personal position, if you are 20 or 50, have kids etc.

Wouldn't go back to shift work again, irregular sleep messes with everything: diet, energy, socializing.

Did it in my twenties on and off, and I have to say that it is grand for those with minimal personal responsibilities and energy. Like other posters, I would recommend setting a date to finish it, shift work has been identified as a way to take a few years off your life expectancy.

I love it and still miss it 6 years after moving to a 5 day week. If I was single I’d never work any other way than shift, 5 days a week is too many to be taken. Absolutely brilliant for being able to get things done at times when everyone else isn’t doing them at the same time.

Being working night shift for 3 months now hopefully I'll get a move to evenings within 12 months. Currently 11-7 but evenings is 3-11 and will allow me to keep the same sleep schedule all week long. Generally sleep great during the week, the weekends are pretty much a write off this far

Hi all recently started a new job in security, not sure if I should stick to it or look for two days and two nights on then 3 off or monday to friday job ?

is it true that it's not good for your health ?
And do you really get the extra days off if your sleeping 7 to 8 hours during the day,
    Salary is 11.65 per .

I currently work these hours but they change every week you have to be fully available 24 hours a day 7 days a week . A normal week would be 45 hours

    Thursday 5pm - 8am 15 hours
    Friday - off
    Sat 8pm - 8am
    Sunday 8pm - 8am

Then back I Tuesday wont know the time until they text you.

Been on shift work, all nights, for 14yrs now and absolutely love it, mastered sleep patterns a long time ago

I've worked various different schedules, mostly made up by myself, in the company i'm with now i'm on 3 on, 1 off, 3 on then the opposite, 3 off, 1 on, 3 off.

The 6 out of 7 working can be tough but then the next week is almost like a week off
