"The successful candidate will commence on the 1st point of the salary scale in line with current Government policy"

Why bother giving a salary scale (it's a limited contract role ) if you'll start on the lowest?
Or what are they getting at here?
Or are there exceptions and hence the scale?

Because it's possible to transfer to a permanent role so they set out the scale just in case.

Could also be in case someone's taking it up from an existing Public Service position that overlaps the salary scale of the new job and expects to jump to the point on the scale that's above where they are now.

And I take it that's not possible? As in -its bottom of the scale for everyone even if you're a Secretary General?

I'm not sure that there are any permanent roles in this organisation.

I'd be dropping from point 2 on AP scale to point 1 !! On the HEO scale if I was to move- I thought the scale might be that they would match my/ a candidate's current salary.

Are you moving from CS to PS?
It’s my understanding that you can’t go down in salary. Check and see if any of the points in this circular apply to you. I would query it with them before you take the position obviously.
