Anyone successfully disabled the reversing beeps on a prius? It's a 2017 model. Not sure if this is common to automatic toyotas or not. It's fierce annoying and distracting especially when it goes into a duet with the rear parking sensors.

It’s there because of the electronic shifter, and the fact that it uses the electric motor to reverse, and how easily you mightn’t realise it was still in reverse. It’s been on them since 2004 at least and I wouldn’t suggest you disable it no matter how annoying it is.

I know what youre saying but in terms of health and safety it has rear parking sensors, rear camera, an R on the dash and a rear crossing alarm that automatically cuts the power. The constant beep is a bit much especially in a reverse paralell park situation. I dont feel im being my usuall old fashioned self on this one!

The beeping can be removed by some diagnostic tools . Just a setting in the background that an be altered

When I took my Gen 3 Prius in to Toyota for a service/recall, I asked them to turn the reverse beep off.
I knew the beep options were continuous or single beep on selecting reverse, and they set up the single beep option for me. I would imagine that the Gen 4 Prius would have the same option.

Cheers for the replys. Its not due a service for a year so I'll give that carista a shot. Hopefully the elm bluetooth yolk i have is compatible. 1 beep would do grand.

    My poor feelings :D

Got a good deal on the yaris to get it. Love a new camry or corolla but we'll knock a few years out of this until they get cheaper. Had a good mess with the sensitivity settings yesterday so it has far less safety beeps going on. The BRAKE! warning was one. Should keep me from burning it out. Be awful bad for the environment if that happened.
